Some users are reporting and issue when saving-as from within Adobe acrobat reader. When trying the save, instead of a dialogue box allowing you to choose the save location all you see is a blank dialogue box form/screen.

This should be able to be solved by turning off the option to save to online-storage. Normally you will be wanting to save the PDF document locally to your PC or a network share so this shouldn't create any problems for most users.

To make this change follow the steps below:

Open adobe reader:

  1. Go to the top menu and select 'Edit'
  2. Select 'Preferences'

(continued below)

1

  1. Click on the 'General' category
  2. Uncheck the 'Show online storge when saving files' checkbox

(Continued below)

2

Click on OK to close the dialog box
Close adobe reader, open a PDF files and test

How to add a printer and avoid it being a "web services device":

Firstly, printers should have a fixed IP address outside the DHCP scope or at least a DHCP reservation to really work properly. Anything else will eventually give you pain, that said below are the instructions for connecting directly to a printer on a specific IPv4 address.

  1. Click on start menu
  2. Type "control"...
  3. Click on control panel from the list in the start menu

Note that I recommend using "this" printer settings method as you get more control than the "metro" (Windows 10) looking settings page.

  1. When the traditional windows control panel loads up you may have to chose "small icons" to see all the control panel icons.
  2. Click on devices and printers

  1. Click on add printer
  2. Ignore whatever is auto detected and click "The printer that I want isn't listed"

  1. Select  the "add printer using a TCP/IP addresss..." option
  2. Click next

  1. This is the important part, rather then leave the device type as auto detect. Chose TCP/IP rather then the evil Web services device option

  1. Add the printer IP address, click next and continue to install the printer in the normal way.
